Hot Fuss

The super cool movie I mentioned earlier was Hot Fuss. It's seriously awesome! There is this über cop called Nicholas Angel who is banished from London to boring countryside by jealous colleagues. There he gets a new partner who is not very bright but good-hearted. In no time Nicholas realizes that there is something funny going on in the village... And he is about to find out what.

Before I saw this I thought it was just an another action movie. And even though I happen to like action movies I was really skeptic about this one. Within the first few minutes I realized that I was mistaken. It was indeed a movie about cops, crime and mystery, but it was also a brilliant British comedy. Hot Fuss has the same writers and director as Shaun of the Dead, and that is not the only similarity between these movies. They also have the same leading actors and some similar lines too. And actually the plot is quite similar too. Though it took me long to realize the connection between these two movies because it has been a long time since I saw Shaun of the Dead. It was difficult to recall those details.

Anyway. If you liked Shaun of the Dead, you will love Hot Fuss too. It's guaranteed. But if you haven't seen Shaun of the Dead yet, make sure that you watch it first, otherwise you may get disappointed. Hot Fuss is so much better. Here is the trailer for you:

Complaints about school and my weight

My stress level is extremely high. I have never in my life really felt stressed so this is even more stressful. I have had school for three days and I HATE IT. It's so obvious that I'm not motivated and I think it affects other people as well. We should take patients as soon as possible but I just don't feel ready. I have the skills but I have not grown into my role as dental hygienist yet. I really don't care about my job. And I don't understand why our school even has to be our job. I want to go there to learn things not to do something completely useless. Like for two days I have done nothing but shred papers with shredder!

And I'm fat! I'm way past my happy weight. I don't feel good about myself. I have started to keep a food journal again but I feel that it's not helping. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and how I even ended up to be this way in the first place. I feel sorry for myself because I worked so hard last year to get this weight off and now I have let myself ruin all that. The worst part is that my clothes don't fit anymore. They're too tight. I have clothes only for skinny me. I got to get rid of this.

First day of school

My school started today. I woke up 7.35 which was a bit too early but I wanted to have some extra time to recreate my old routines. I was ready to leave (too early though) to school when the doorbell rang. There was this man who was going to fix everything that might need a fix in our apartment. In ten minutes I found out that he had 21 year old daughter who still lives home and a son who is in vocational school. And that he has worked for Fortum and he's actually carpenter. And when I left he told Aleksi that his wife has dumped him and that he's a bit down because of that! But our freezer now has grip and our ventilation window works as it should. But it's still weird that somebody you meet for the first time tells you his whole life history.

Anyway. School was a bore. But it was so much fun to bike there. Biking saves time and gives me more freedom. I can leave anytime I want. It was nice to meet Julia and SK. When I told SK that I biked to school she said as I expected someone to say sooner or later: "but you live in Espoo!?". I indeed live in Espoo but it's still only 7 kilometres. We got a new teacher. She's like three years old but I'm not going to be mean. I just don't feel that she's qualified. She teaches for the first time and she seemed a bit lost.

PS: We watched a super cool movie yesterday but I review it later. I have this very weird one post per day policy.

Our new pet

More exciting news! We got a new mouse. Our old one didn't work properly anymore so we decided quite ex tempore to buy a new one. We went to Prisma because all the other shops were closed. The mouse selection there was narrow but we found one which was cheap (20 euros) and looked totally decent. This is how our new pet looks like:

I was surprised that you can get such a quality with just 20 euros. With this Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 by Microsoft you can magnify stuff with just one click (very handy) and scroll in all four directions. It's ergonomic and very comfortable in hand. And oh the silence when you scroll! I'm so happy we upgraded.

I got a use for our old mouse too. I'm going to give it to my dad. He has a mouse indeed but his mouse doesn't even have the scroll thingy in the middle. And I know that our old mouse works enough well for him... but I'm not sure if he knows how to use the scroll.

Movie Magic

Yesterday we watched the Illusionist. I immediately thought about the Prestige which is also a movie about magicians. I liked the latter better because the plot and the actors were better. Scarlett Johansson has a lot more depth than Jessica Biel. Biel is not even pretty. But the Illusionist was very visual and therefore very pleasant to watch. I don't care so much about the plot if everything else is from the top.

Anyway. The Illusionist is a very typical love story: A certain man loves a certain woman. They are separated by higher powers. They meet again but the woman is involved with other man. Bla bla bla. How many times have we seen this already? But these both movies hold one ultimate trick we haven't seen yet. You can do a lot when little magic is added.
